Introducing Season Six (27 October 2026)

My plan for Season Six of Tall And True Short Reads and beyond is to continue writing and releasing instalments of The Nine Lives of Leo Roberts from Season Five. But I'll also be narrating a backlog of my other writing, including the short stories and blog posts I've shared on Tall And True during 2025 and 2026. And I'm starting Season Six with a two-episode short story, One Day in the Life of Alex's AI.

Robert's Insight

I launched my storytelling podcast in September 2020 with Episode 1, Five Meet on Zoom, a short story I wrote for the Furious Fiction writing challenge in May 2020. And I celebrated Episode 100 in October 2024 with Twin Souls in the Universe, another Furious Fiction story which I wrote in August 2024.

The first four seasons of Tall And True Short Reads featured short stories, blog posts, and other writing I've shared on Tall And True. Most were standalone episodes, but I also released multipart episodes for longer stories and posts. These included Both Sides of the Story from Season One (Episodes 26 to 31), Two Visits to the Berlin Wall from Season Three (Episodes 69 and 70), and Some Things Change from Season Four (Episodes 79 to 81).

For Season Five in 2025, I tried something different. My goal was to write and narrate a series of interconnected short stories, specifically written for the podcast. I titled the series The Nine Lives of Leo Roberts.

The Gotham Writers Workshop defines the interconnected stories genre as:

Stories that are complete in that each story can stand alone, but when put together, they interrelate and create a larger whole.

I released the first of The Nine Lives of Leo Roberts episodes, Prologue: The Clinic (Episode 102), in February 2025. But as I revealed in the third episode in November 2025, Two: A Fast Car — Part One (Episode 105), the writing for Season Five was proving to be an ambitious goal.

Many factors affected the stalled Season Five release schedule for 2025 and 2026, including life, travel, and website redesigns. I also had other writing projects. But the key problem was me learning how to write interconnected short stories.

My plan for Season Six and beyond is to continue writing and releasing instalments of The Nine Lives of Leo Roberts. I'm currently working on Three: The House Party. This will be the long overdue sixth episode in the series.

But I'll also be narrating a backlog of my other writing, including the short stories and blog posts I've shared on Tall And True during 2025 and 2026. And I'm starting Season Six with a two-episode short story, One Day in the Life of Alex's AI.
